Fall/Winter Term 2020-2021
Studio Announcement, July 18th
After verifying with a local attorney as well as a phone call directly to Governor Whitmer’s office, The Repertoire and any dance studio is considered a gym, and can not legally open for in-person, indoor classes. So right now, we are at the mercy of the state and hoping for a miracle to reach phase 5 or a vaccine in the near future.
For the time being, our original Fall/Winter Term 2020-2021 schedule is null and void. Stay tuned for our Outdoor Mini-Sessions and possible virtual classes!
Creative DanceCreative Dance improves young children’s balance, coordination, self-esteem, social awareness, and much more through various activities to help create a positive and fulfilling dance experience.
Creative I - starting at 2 1/2 years
Creative II - starting at 3 1/2 years
Creative III - starting at 4 1/2 - 5 years | BalletBallet promotes better posture and alignment of the body by increasing the dancer’s awareness through specific exercises and movements. The art form also focuses on improving flexibility and poise while toning and sculpting muscles. Ballet is the foundation for all dance forms. | JazzJazz is more upbeat with faster movements. Typically at The Repertoire, jazz incorporates big jumps, turns, and high energy. It also improves flexibility and endurance. |

Hip HopHip hop is a newer style of dance and is widely seen on TV. Hip Hop is upbeat, high energy, and rhythmic focusing on body isolations and smooth or sharp movements. | Tap/ClogTap is mostly focused on technical and quick movements of the feet. It challenges dancers mentally and physically while creating muscle memory and coordination.
Clogging is more “country” with a little bounce and swing. | Modern/ContemporaryModern dance rejects many of the strict classical ballet techniques. The dance form is more internal and relays a story or message to the audience. Dancers should feel weighted and connected to the floor, unlike ballet which tries to defy gravity with grace and beauty. Modern/contemporary is growing in popularity each year, and allows students to express themselves through dance. |

Acro/TumblingAcro combines dance and tumbling with smooth and graceful transitions between movements. It is a physically demanding activity, but increases flexibility, confidence, and self-awareness for both boys and girls. | PointeDancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing ballet steps. While dancing on stiff-shanks and hard-toed shoes, pointe work allows for continued strength building and coordination. It is a difficult technique and requires previous training in soft shoe ballet along with the approval from instructors to enter the class.
Dancers must be entering 6th grade and close to 12 years old to be eligible for this style of dance. |
